After a 4 year hiatus, Mike Patton's original band, Mr. Bungle is back
with the upcoming release of their 3rd album. The album is named
California, because the music is a lot like the state. "Mostly sunny
with natural disasters thrown in for good measure." Also, I have been
told that FNM fans that disliked Mr. Bungle in the past might actually
like this album. Mr. Bungle's California is set to be released on June
22nd, 1999 by Warner Brothers Records. |
Billy Gould has started his own label, called "Kool Arrow
Records" This is what Billy had to say about it in a recent
interview:
"I'm also in the process of starting an indie label right now,
called Kool Arrow Records. The way it's looking, it's going to be a
cross-cultural label that's going to deal with American bands, Mexican
bands, Mexican American bands, etc. We're looking to release a compilation
right off the bat, called "Spanglish 101", that will include
bands from the US, Mexico, and possibly Spain and Argentina. It will also
contain new Brujeria unreleased tracks from their forthcoming album."
Mike Patton and his manager, Greg Werckman, have also started their own
record label, called Ipecac Records. Here's what Patton had to say about
the label a couple of months ago:
"It will be a very artist-friendly label, the only stipulation is
that we will only work with friends, I wouldn't be doing it without Greg,
I've had ideas like this before that have never gone past the dinner
table, but he's a guy I'd trust to make it happen."
Look for these 1999 releases from Ipecac Records:
- Fantmas (self-titled full-length debut)
- Maldoror (Mike Patton w/ Merzbow)
- The Melvins (3 full-length releases)
- Several other top secret projects
